Understanding Credits and Usage
How BrainTube credits work: saving is free, AI actions cost credits, and the cost is the same on every plan.
BrainTube's currency is called credits. Saving, transcripts and automatic summaries are free and unlimited on every plan, including saves made by an AI over MCP; only AI actions such as search, chat, quizzes and deep research spend credits.
What a credit buys
An action costs the same number of credits on every plan. Higher tiers buy more credits, not different rates.

Monthly credits by plan
- Free: 30 credits a month, plus credits earned for daily logins, saves, reviews and streaks.
- Starter: 300 credits a month.
- Pro: 1,000 credits a month.
Checking your balance
Your credit balance is shown in the app. Click it to see your usage history.
Getting more credits
- Upgrade to Starter or Pro for a larger monthly allowance
- Purchase credits from the Credits page
- Membership codes can add bonus credits
Tips
- Keyword search doesn't cost credits; use it for simple lookups
- Save freely: saving and transcripts don't cost credits
